1. About This Cookies Policy

This Cookies Policy explains how Scalables, LLC (“Scalables,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar storage or access technologies on scalables.com and other Scalables web pages that link to this Policy (collectively, the “Site”). It should be read together with the Scalables Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

This Policy covers technologies used through a browser or similar online interface. It does not by itself govern cookies or local storage used solely inside installed Daisy software or other applications unless those applications expressly link to this Policy.

Important: merely visiting or continuing to browse the Site is not treated as consent to non-essential cookies where applicable law requires consent. We use a consent or preference mechanism for optional technologies and honor applicable opt-out rights.

2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, tags, scripts, software development kits, device identifiers, link-decoration technologies, and other mechanisms that store information on or access information from a device.

These technologies can support security and core Site functions, remember preferences, measure Site performance, understand how visitors reach and use the Site, and, if enabled, support advertising or campaign measurement.

3. Categories of Technologies We May Use

The Site may use the categories below. The technologies actually enabled can change as Site functionality changes. The Cookie settings panel and the register in Section 3.1 are the most current operational list of active technologies, providers, purposes, and durations.

3.1 Technologies currently in use on scalables.com

This register lists what the Site sets today and how it maps to the choices in Cookie settings. Optional categories are off until you turn them on; nothing in those categories loads before you choose.

There are no optional functional or preference cookies in use at present. If we add one, it will appear in this register and in Cookie settings before it is enabled.

4. How Consent and Other Cookie Rules Apply

The Site asks every visitor for a choice before any optional technology is used, regardless of location. The rules below describe the minimum we apply in each region.

4.1 European Economic Area (EEA)

For visitors in the EEA, we do not intend to place or access non-essential cookies or similar technologies before obtaining valid consent where the ePrivacy rules implemented in the relevant country require it. Strictly necessary technologies may be used without consent when the applicable exception is satisfied. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous, and you may withdraw it at any time.

4.2 United Kingdom

For visitors in the United Kingdom, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, generally require prior consent unless an exception applies. Scalables may rely on the communication or strictly necessary exceptions when their conditions are met. We may also rely on the UK statistical-purpose or appearance/functionality exceptions for narrowly configured technologies where the legal requirements are satisfied, including clear information and a simple, free means to object. If those requirements are not satisfied, we obtain consent before using the technology.

4.3 United States

U.S. state privacy laws may regulate cookies and similar technologies when they involve the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, profiling, sensitive data, or other regulated processing. Scalables does not sell personal information for money. If an analytics or advertising disclosure is treated as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under a law that applies to Scalables, we provide the required opt-out method and honor qualifying universal opt-out preference signals.

5. Your Cookie Choices

When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner lets you Accept all, Reject all, or Manage preferences to choose optional categories one by one. Rejecting optional cookies is as straightforward as accepting them, and no optional category is pre-selected.

• Strictly necessary technologies cannot generally be disabled through the Site because they support functions you request or help keep the Site secure. You may be able to block them in your browser, but doing so can cause parts of the Site to stop working.
• You can change or withdraw a prior optional-cookie choice at any time through Cookie settings, linked in the footer of every page. When you withdraw a category, the page reloads without the related scripts and the Google Analytics cookies set on scalables.com are deleted. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
• Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months, after which we ask again. It applies to the browser and device you made it on.
• You can also use browser or device controls to delete or block cookies. Browser settings operate separately from our preference tool and may affect Site functionality.
• Where an applicable law requires us to recognize a browser-based opt-out preference signal, we process a qualifying signal as described in Section 6.

6. Universal Opt-Out Signals and U.S. Privacy Choices

Where required by applicable U.S. privacy law, Scalables honors qualifying universal opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control (GPC), for the browser or device from which the signal is received. For example, covered businesses must honor qualifying opt-out preference signals under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, and covered California businesses must honor GPC as a request to opt out of sale or sharing.

On this Site, a GPC signal keeps the Targeting (marketing) category off even if you select Accept all, and Cookie settings shows that the signal is in effect. If the signal is turned on after you made a choice, it still takes precedence.

A browser-based signal may not identify you across different browsers, devices, accounts, or offline records. If you want to exercise a broader privacy right, including deletion or another statutory request, follow the process in the Scalables Privacy Policy.

7. Third-Party Technologies

Some Site features may be provided by third parties, such as hosting, payment, analytics, video, communications, customer-support, security, or anti-abuse providers. Those providers may set or read cookies or similar technologies when the relevant feature is enabled. We review service providers and contractual protections in accordance with our privacy and security governance requirements.

Third-party providers may process information under their own privacy notices when they act as independent controllers or businesses. Where Scalables controls the use of a non-essential third-party technology, we apply the consent or opt-out controls described in this Policy.

Scalables does not authorize analytics or advertising providers to use cookie technologies to capture the substantive contents of customer laboratory protocols, uploaded customer files, support messages, or Daisy Lab Assistant prompts for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. Those inputs are governed by the Privacy Policy and any applicable customer agreement.

8. Information Collected Through These Technologies

Depending on the technology and your choices, information can include IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, approximate location derived from IP address, referring page, pages or products viewed, interactions with Site features, timestamps, session identifiers, campaign parameters, and cookie or device identifiers. Some of this information is personal data or personal information under applicable law.

We use this information only for the purposes described in this Policy, the Privacy Policy, the relevant preference interface, and any applicable customer agreement. We do not intentionally collect passwords, payment-card numbers, patient information, or laboratory research data through advertising cookies.

9. International Data Transfers

Cookie and analytics providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you are located. Where European or UK personal data is transferred internationally and a transfer mechanism is required, Scalables uses the safeguards described in the Scalables Privacy Policy and Data Privacy and Security Governance Framework, such as an applicable adequacy mechanism or contractual safeguards.

10. Retention

Cookie duration depends on the purpose and technology. Some cookies expire when you close your browser; others persist for a defined period so the Site can remember a preference, measure use over time, or maintain a privacy choice. We limit duration to what is appropriate for the stated purpose and periodically review technologies that remain in use.

The register in Section 3.1 provides the current duration for individual cookies or technologies. Consent and opt-out records may be retained as needed to demonstrate and honor your privacy choices.

11. Children

The public Scalables website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly use advertising or targeted-tracking technologies to profile children through the Site. If we learn that a Site feature is likely to be accessed by children, we will evaluate and implement any additional consent, design, and privacy protections required by applicable law.

12. Security and Data Minimization

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information collected through Site technologies and configure tracking in accordance with data-minimization principles. Access to analytics and similar data is limited to personnel and providers with a business need. We periodically review enabled technologies and remove or disable those that are no longer needed.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in Site technologies, providers, business practices, customer requirements, or applicable law. The revised version will identify its effective date. If a change materially affects previously obtained consent or introduces a new purpose that requires consent, we will request a new choice where required rather than relying on an earlier consent for the new purpose.

15. Related Website Policies

This Cookies Policy should be read together with the Scalables Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, General Disclaimer, and any customer-specific agreement that applies to your use of the Site or Scalables services. If a signed customer agreement imposes stricter privacy or security requirements for customer data, the signed agreement controls for that customer data.
